The Mac terminal for people who run servers.
Tabs, split panes and SSH profiles are free. Production tabs turn red and ask before a risky command runs. Pro adds AWS sessions, Logs Insights and release tools.
macOS 14 or later. Apple Silicon and Intel. Signed and notarized by Apple.
Mistakes on production usually come from the wrong tab or an up-arrow that recalled the wrong line. iqShell Mac checks the command before it is sent.
A real terminal comes first.
Everything in this list is free, with no account and no time limit.
Tabs and split panes
Open several sessions side by side. Your tabs, splits and local folders come back when you reopen the app.
SSH profiles
Save servers once, with a password in the Keychain or a key file. Import them from your ~/.ssh/config.
Fast to drive
Search scrollback with ⌘F, jump anywhere with the command palette (⇧⌘P), and get a notification when a long command finishes.
Themes
Built-in light and dark themes, adjustable fonts, and a red theme that marks production.
AI that reads your logs
Ask about the output on screen. Use your own Anthropic or OpenAI key, or run a model locally with Ollama. Secrets are masked before logs leave your Mac.
Built for the day something breaks.
Cloud tools are only useful if they are safe to use under pressure. These checks work in the free app too.
Production looks different
Profiles with prod, production or live in their name turn red in the sidebar and the terminal. You can also pick a theme for any profile.
Risky commands ask first
Schema migrations, destructive SQL, recursive deletes and service restarts need a confirmation on production tabs.
Secrets stay in the Keychain
Saved passwords and API keys live in the macOS Keychain, never in a settings file.
No analytics
iqShell Mac has no accounts and no tracking. The only network traffic is what you start: your sessions, the AI provider you chose, and an update check when you ask for one.
Pro is for the cloud work.
If you run servers on AWS, these tools replace a pile of browser tabs and shell scripts. Azure and GCP are planned.
AWS accounts and sessions
Import your accounts, then open SSM, ECS Exec and database sessions from the sidebar. No open SSH ports needed.
Port forwards
Set up and manage forwards through SSM, with a name for each so you can start them again later.
CloudWatch Logs Insights
Run queries in their own window and send the results to the AI panel.
Compare environments
Check staging against production side by side.
CloudFront invalidation
Invalidate paths without leaving the app.
Releases
See what is merged but not released, and draft release notes with links to your Jira issues.
Run on many profiles
Run one command across several servers and read the results together.
Runbooks and Jira
Save the commands you repeat, and turn an AI answer into a Jira ticket you review before it is created.
Also on your phone.
iqShell for iPhone, iPad and Android is a local-only SSH terminal. Your servers, keys and passwords stay on your device.
Try it on a real server.
Download the free app. Pro tools are unlocked for 14 days so you can see what they do on your own accounts.
